How It Works

A quick overview of how the system works:

The dataFM crisis communications system utilizes a mix of new and existing technology to accomplish its mission. When a crisis emerges, the authorised person at the control center inputs an alert message, addressed to designated receivers, into the system via an internet computer connection. At the speed of light, the message is relayed to the dataFM control center in Ringgold, Georgia, which then inputs the message to the Telstar Satellite which holds a geosynchronous orbit over the northern half of the Western Hemisphere. Once the satellite receives the message it is transmitted to the systems host transmitters on each island which then sends the message to the designated receivers on the ground. All this takes place in a matter of a few seconds.
